TURKISH STUDENTS’ IMPRESSIONS FROM LITHUANIA
The week that we spent in Lithuania was fantastic for each of us. First of all, Lithuanian teachers, students and their families were very warmhearted. They welcomed us kindly when we arrived the village, Batakiai.
We were impressed by the folk dances at school garden on our first day at school. We also liked the bread that they served us. We painted the wall with the colors of our country and we had a lot of fun.
The Batakiai village has its wonderful landscapes that we will never forget. Also the Amber Museum in Palanga, Trakai Castle, the open air museum, the sand dunes and the sun calendar in Nida fascinated us. We made candles from wax.
We learned about the history of Lithuania at the Taurage Castle. We also attended a ceramics workshop there and it was very enjoyable.
We were impressed by the works of folk artist Ona Paulauskiene. We also liked the folk performance in Taurage.
We learned the dance “Polka su raguciais” and we had a lot of fun.
The local ethnographic homestead where we watched the amazing performance of the Lithuanian students was overwhelming. We liked the goat made of straw, the songs and the dance performance. We tasted local dishes and after that we all decorated our drawings with lentils and rice.
Finally, we want to thank a lot to the Lithuanian teachers, students and their families for their kindness, generosity and the friendly athmosphere.
